Telehealth

Telehealth appointments, such as video calls, can be a convenient option for medical care without having to go into your doctor’s office. While a telehealth visit cannot always replace an in-person exam, telehealth can be used for behavioral health services, chronic disease management, primary care services, and more. Telehealth visits are covered by your WellSense plan if you use an in-network provider. To find out if your provider offers telehealth appointments, you should call their office and ask.

How it works

  • A telehealth appointment can either be done by phone or by video.
  • For video appointments ,you’ll need access to the internet along with a device that has a camera and microphone. For example, you can use a computer, smartphone or tablet.
  • Be sure to ask your doctor’s office what you’ll need when you schedule your telehealth visit so you’ll be ready at the time of your appointment.
  • If you currently have cost sharing (such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductible) for in-person appointments, your virtual visit will have the same cost share.
  • To find out if your provider offers telehealth appointments, you should call their office and ask.
