Rides to appointments
Transportation shouldn’t be the reason you can’t get the care you need. As a MassHealth member, you may be able to request rides for certain medical appointments if you’re eligible. This way you can worry less about getting to and from your appointments and instead focus on your health. WellSense or your providers can help with this request.
Rides are available for:
Members enrolled in eligible plans
Non-emergency transportation
You can request rides to many types of visits, including:
- Day habilitation programs that help with daily living and health support
- Doctor visits, such as check-ups, sick visits and follow-up care
- Hospital outpatient visits, where you do not stay overnight
- Mental health care, including therapy, counseling and psychiatry visits
- Preventive care, like yearly exams, screenings and tests
- Substance use treatment services
- Visits with specialists, like heart doctors or other experts
Ride request form
Talk to your provider or call WellSense Care Management at 866-853-5241 and ask them to complete a PT-1 (Transportation Request Form). Once the form is submitted, it usually takes 3 business days for review and approval.
How to schedule a ride
Once your PT-1 is approved, you're ready to schedule your MassHealth rides through your transportation broker. There are two brokers for MassHealth rides, MART and GATRA. You will receive a letter from the broker assigned to you but you can also find your broker online.
You can schedule your ride online, through a mobile app or by phone. When possible, schedule your ride at least 3 days in advance.
Mobile app
Schedule your ride using the QRyde Rider mobile app.
Enter your MassHealth ID as your user name. Password is your birth month and day. Use 2 digits for each. For example, if your birthday is Jan. 1, your password is 0101.
