Supplier diversity program

WellSense is committed to increasing contracting opportunities for certified diverse businesses.

WellSense promotes opportunities for diverse suppliers as part of its fair and transparent sourcing process. Our Strategic Sourcing team provides our internal business partners with diverse suppliers who satisfy our procurement and contract standards for consideration, however, all WellSense employees are encouraged to identify and include diverse suppliers in the sourcing process to ensure that WellSense maintains a strong, competitive and diverse supplier base.

WellSense believes that using diverse suppliers who are a reflection of the communities we serve, will support the economic development of these communities, positively contribute to WellSense’s competitiveness, and position WellSense for a sustainable future.

To be considered a Diverse Supplier, your business should be at least 51% owned and controlled by individuals belonging to one or more of the following groups:

  • Women
  • Minorities: African American, Asian Pacific American, Hispanic American, Native American, Subcontinent Asian American or Alaska Native
  • Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender
  • Veterans
  • Service Disabled Veterans
  • Disabled
  • Small Business (as defined by the Small Business Administration)
  • Small Disadvantaged Business, HUB Zone or 8(a) Small Business

WellSense’s supplier diversity program requires diverse businesses to be certified by a recognized third party or state or local government agency as part of its program. Certification allows WellSense to validate and verify the legitimacy of the diverse businesses we intend to partner with, but also, ensures the credibility and integrity of our reporting statistics. WellSense accepts one or more of the following certifications:

  • Greater New England Minority Development Council, Inc. (GNEMSDC)
  • Center for Women & Enterprise (CWE) or Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and its affiliates
  • Center of Verification & Evaluation (CVE)
  • U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs (SDVOSB) or National Veteran Business Development Council (NVBDC)
  • Small Business Administration (SBA)
  • Disability: IN / Work Without Limits

  • We strongly encourage suppliers that have a third party certifications by GNEMSDC, CWE or New England WBENC, City of Boston, NGLCC, Disability:IN, or SDVOSB to apply for recognition with the State of Massachusetts, Supplier Diversity Office (SDO). Once recognized your organization will appear in the SDO registry and receive other benefits.   • Suppliers that register as a Diverse Supplier as defined above must provide certification or proof of classification as a Diverse Supplier to WellSense upon request.
  • Suppliers that participate in WellSense’s diversity program agree to allow WellSense to include the supplier’s name and total payments received from WellSense on any reports to third parties, including government agencies, on its spend with Diverse Suppliers.
