Don't Forget to Ask Your Doctor About...

Getting Screened for Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)

If you are sexually active, ask your doctor about getting screened for STDs at every visit, as well as your risks and available vaccines. It’s confidential and free. Many STDs, such as chlamydia, have no symptoms and can be cured with the right treatment. If not treated, chlamydia can make it difficult or impossible for a woman to get pregnant, so speak up and talk to your doctor today.

Keeping Your Diabetes in Check

If you have diabetes, ask your doctor what your target levels for these tests should be so you can keep track of them throughout the year:

  • HbA1c
  • Blood pressure
  • LDL-C

It's also important to get your recommended diabetic screenings every year to track your cholesterol and blood sugar levels, and see if your prescribed medications are working or if they need to be adjusted. Make sure to ask your doctor about your cardiac risks since there may be steps you can take to improve them. If you need help with your diabetes, or another health condition, call us.

Stocking Up on Free Diapers

If you are pregnant or just had a baby, we’ll send you a free box of diapers if you have a postpartum visit with your doctor between 3-8 weeks after having your baby. At this visit, your doctor or midwife will make sure your body is recovering from childbirth, and answer any questions you have about your mental or physical health.

To get your diapers, download the form and bring it to your postpartum appointment. Ask your doctor to fill it out and sign or stamp it, and then send it back to us. We’ll ship the diapers to you in the mail.

Finding Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transgender (LGBT) Resources

Your doctor can be a great resource for finding LGBT support. Let your doctor know if you are LGBT; your doctor may have access to specialists and support systems who will better understand the care you need. Your appointments are confidential, so tell your doctor what you need and they will listen.
