Gear Up and Bike Safely

  • Be a safe cyclist and gear up with helmets, knee pads and wrist guards before you ride
  • Stay off the streets and out of traffic, and keep to designated paths or trails
  • Closed-toe shoes with socks are much better for your feet than sandals when biking
  • Test your brakes before you ride
  • Let your little light — and clothes — shine; wear bright, bold colored clothing and use the front and/or back lights on your bike, especially when you are outside at night
  • Learn and follow all rules of the road
  • Always bike with a responsible adult
